UL Approved Products

Breimer-Roth GmbH has a full approval for single-phase and three-phase transformers according to the standard UL5085 Category Code XPTQ2/XPTQ8 for USA and Canada. These transformers can be used in switchgears and machines without any concerns and do not have to be tested by UL. The requirement for full approval is the “Electrical Insulation System” UL1446/Category Code OBJY2/OBJY8. According to this we can produce all other products which do not have full approval. For our full service, we also have the approval for switchgear and transformers in enclosures according to the UL508A Category Code NITW7/NITW8.

Application of UL/CSA transformers

In order to be able to use transformers or other electrotechnical components in the USA and Canada, a corresponding approval according to UL/CSA is usually necessary. Since there are a large number of different UL/CSA approvals, it is important to check which standard and which category code the corresponding product is approved to. Often, the user simply looks for a corresponding logo on the product and considers it to be suitable. This can lead to considerable problems with commissioning in the USA and Canada. A logo on its own is not sufficient, the standard and the file number must be recognizable on the product.
