Overrun controller

An overrun controller is a special position controller for actuating systems in which the position of a moving element is controlled by mechanical feedback.

Typically, the tracking controller consists of a mostly electrically driven control element and a machine coupled to it. Feedback of the current position is provided via a mechanical bearing feedback, for example by a spindle or rack.

Thanks to this design, the system “tracks” the specified position until the target and actual positions match. The tracking controller therefore ensures precise position control in mechanical positioning systems.

Follow-up controllers are used in particular in applications where robust and directly coupled mechanical control is required.
