O transformador de isolamento é um transformador com separação protetora entre os enrolamentos de entrada e de saída. Os transformadores de isolamento são utilizados para o isolamento elétrico dos circuitos, a fim de limitar os riscos resultantes de um contacto acidental simultâneo entre a terra e as partes sob tensão ou as partes metálicas que podem estar sob tensão em caso de defeito de isolamento. As medidas de proteção podem ser cumpridas com transformadores de isolamento “Separação protetora”.
